Rev Susanne ChambersRev Susanne Chambers – Parish Priest

http://au.linkedin.com/in/susannechambers vicar@stpaulscanterbury.org.au  Susanne began her professional career as a Registered Nurse in Sydney, training as a General Nurse, Midwife and in Paediatrics. A Diploma of Theology was achieved in Perth in 1986 followed later by a Graduate Diploma in Ministry. She was made a Deacon in 1987 and ordained a Priest in 1992. Her appointments include being Assistant Curate Fremantle/Beaconsfield 1987-90, Assistant Minister St John’s Toorak 1990-92, Assistant Minister Williamstown 1991-95, Associate Priest Burnie 1995-99, Area Dean North-West Tasmania 1996-99, Priest in Charge St. Thomas’ Upper Ferntree Gully and Coordinating Chaplain to Angliss Health Service from 2000. Susanne was made Incumbent at St Paul’s Canterbury in 2008. She has also concurrently served as Area Dean of Waverley-Knox during 2006-7, and now is Area Dean of Waverley.  Susanne has completed a four year Spiritual Directions course with Living Well. Jonathan her husband is also a priest and works as Chaplain to the Staff at Anglicare Victoria and has his own practice of providing professional supervision for people in ministry. (His other ‘love’ is a small, red 1968 Datsun 2000 Sports). They have three sons who are very keen on their basketball. Susanne enjoys spending time with her family, dinner with friends, cooking when she has time, drinking fine red wine and a wee single malt whiskey, driving in the hills or going down to the ocean, listening to music/playing music, pottering in the garden and reading books on spirituality/theology.

David Lempriere-Laughton, Director of Music

David Lempriere-Laughton has enjoyed a long and widely varied musical career as a concert pianist and musical director,dividing his time between Australia, Europe and the USA for the past twenty years. He has played and conducted at many of the world’s leading theatres and music centres, including Carnegie Hall in New York, Wigmore Hall in London, Symphony Hall in Birmingham, the Louvre in Paris and the Ludwigshafen in Frankfurt. Awards include the 1994 Hephzibah Menuhin Memorial and 3MBS-FM Performer of the Year Awards and Associate diplomas in piano, violin and singing. He holds a Master of Music degree from the Juilliard School in New York and is a Fellow of Trinity College in London, where he has worked as a performer, teacher, examiner and adjudicator since 2002. His students include finalists and prize winners at major national music competitions in the UK, Germany and Japan and he has held staff positions at the Juilliard School NY, Royal College of Music in London and the Godolphin School in Salisbury. During his time in London, he also held positions as Assistant Organist and Director of Music at St Mary’s Church West Kensington and St Philip’s Church Kensington respectively.
